Scott, a native of Mercer County, WV, owes his
spiritual heritage to his grandfather, Rev. Z.F.
Godwin. Although “Zebe” died before Scott was
born, his oral legacy from the many folks that
knew and loved him has served to inspire and
challenge Scott to embark on this journey
toward pastoral ministry. At the 50th Wedding
Jasper, then pastor of Kee St. UMC, was
conversing with Scott when he said: “Scott, I
believe God is calling you to become a pastor.”
Later, Rev. Greg Godwin agreed to serve as
Scott’s mentor in ministry and patiently guided
him through the candidacy process. Scott
attended Pastoral Ministry Licensing School in
March of 2007 and counts that time of worship,
fellowship, and study as “life changing”. He
continues his studies as a Local Pastor.
Scott served as pastor of Martha Chapel UMC,
Sand Knob UMC, and Mt. Zion UMC, the three
churches of the “Hinton Circuit” in the Greenbrier
District of the WV Annual Conference before
coming to Stinson and Pisgah churches. Scott’s
hopes, prayers, and efforts for the folks of the
East Princeton Charge include expanding
community outreach with God’s love, becoming
better evangelists for Christ, and continued
congregational spiritual growth. Scott gives the
credit for this incredible opportunity and
responsibility to pastor Stinson and Pisgah
churches to God’s guiding hands and the love
and invaluable support of his wife, Lynn.
